Description

The York S1-024-23285-700 is an OEM replacement SPST (Single-Pole Single-Throw) pressure switch engineered for precise draft and airflow monitoring in York heating systems. Calibrated to a set point of -0.53″ water column (wc), this switch reliably detects proper inducer operation and prevents furnace operation under unsafe draft conditions — protecting both the equipment and the occupants it serves.

Key Features
  • Set point: -0.53″ water column (wc)
  • Switch type: SPST (Single-Pole Single-Throw)
  • Connection: 1/4″ barbed port for secure hose attachment
  • OEM York replacement part — direct fit for compatible York furnace models
  • Monitors inducer/draft pressure to ensure safe furnace operation
  • Prevents ignition if proper negative pressure is not established
How It Works

The pressure switch is connected via its 1/4″ barbed port to the inducer housing or flue collector box. When the inducer motor creates the required negative pressure of -0.53″ wc, the SPST switch closes, signaling the furnace control board that it is safe to proceed with the ignition sequence. If adequate draft is not achieved — due to a blocked flue, failed inducer, or cracked pressure hose — the switch remains open and locks out ignition, protecting against hazardous combustion conditions.

Application
  • Designed as a direct OEM replacement for York furnaces requiring the S1-024-23285-700 pressure switch
  • Ideal for HVAC technicians performing routine maintenance, warranty repairs, or emergency service calls
  • Always verify compatibility with the specific York model before installation
Installation Tips
  • Inspect the pressure hose and barbed fittings for cracks or blockages before installing the new switch
  • Ensure the hose seats fully and securely on the 1/4″ barbed port
  • Verify correct operation of the inducer motor after replacement
  • Consult the furnace service manual for wiring diagram and set point verification procedures
