How It Works
Upon a call for heat, the S8701A1074 energizes the spark igniter and simultaneously opens the gas valve. If flame is sensed within the 11-second trial period, the module holds the valve open and continues normal operation. If flame is not detected within that window, the module goes into lockout, cutting power to the gas valve and requiring a manual reset — a critical safety feature that prevents gas accumulation.
